On Friday, February 8th, the CityPlace Atrium was once again transformed for our 4th Annual Home Is Where the Heart Is Gala. This year, the theme was DISCO, so guests were welcomed with strobe lights, fantastic 70s music, and tons of sequins. With help from our sponsors, donors, guests, and our many partners, we were able to raise over $188,000 to help end homelessness in Connecticut’s Capital Region.
Max Downtown, who has always been an incredible partner of ours, truly outdid themselves this year by highlighting the decade of disco with dishes such as Beef Wellington, Deviled Eggs, Fondue and an Ice Cream Sundae Bar. Litchfield Distillery and Hartford Flavor Company were on hand with tastings of their small-batch beverages. For those with a sweet tooth, we welcomed Sassy Mama Sweets, located in Southington, who generously made an assortment of their unbelievably beautiful and decadent cupcakes. Powerstation Events, who is also a gala sponsor, set the disco scene, with fantastic lighting and audio, and the best selection of 70’s music hits that you could imagine. We were so fortunate to have FISCH, from iHeartRadio’s FISCH on The River morning show, as our Master of Ceremonies. Our guests enjoyed meeting and mingling with him before and after our program, and he helped us to raise even more money to end homelessness. We’d like to give a special shout out to all of our amazing guests who went ALL OUT with their outfits, and made the night even more fun!
With the help of all of our partners, our incredibly talented Journey Home staff, and our generous guests, donors, and our sponsors, we were able to raise the most money for our bottom line. So many thanks go to all who volunteered at our event, especially the HYPE crew, and of course our AMAZING and TALENTED gala committee, as they work diligently for months to create such a unique and special night.
